1. It gives you ‘good price’
It’s as cheap as chips (if you pardon the pun!). Well, the pound has taken a hit against the euro, but Spain remains one of the best value destinations in Europe for a summer holiday.
2. Sun, sun, sun
Did you know, Spain has, on average, 300 days of sun. Us Brits can only dream of that kind of weather…
Oh the cities. Any time of year, you can hop on a cheap flight and vitis the beautiful, historical Barcelona, Madrid, Seville, Valencia and many more.
Some people reckon Majorca is the best place in the word for cyclists, with terrain to suit all style and abilities.
Spain houses more than 5000 miles of coastline and thousands of beaches, with blue flags being awarded to more than 577 of them.
6. GOT is filmed there
Amongst many other films and TV series, parts of season six is filmed in Spain.
7. Legendary parties
Spain’s local parties make international news, and for the right reasons. The Tomatina is an annual favourite and Pamplona’s Running of the Bulls drew nearly 100,000 people in 2013.
Spain is home to some of the world’s greatest architecture, including Antoni Gaudi (Barcelona is home to the unfinished cathedral, Sagrada Familia, as well as a number of other projects) and painter Pablo Picasso (his birthplace of Malaga has a museum home to some 300 works).
We know all about the food, after sourcing four street food traders for April Feria, we have found out the Spain offers more than tasty seafood. Tapas, churros, paella and all the best wine, the list goes on.
10. It’s not far away
From London, even the most southern part of Spain is two hours away. Plus they’re not expensive flights.
